Composition

The active substance of the drug is cytisine.

1 coated tablet contains 1.5 mg of cytisine.

Excipients: mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, glycerol dibehenate, hypromellose.

Recommended dosage

Desmoxan should be taken orally with an appropriate amount of water according to the scheme below.

from day 1 to day 3 1 coated tablet

every 2 hours (maximum 6 film-coated tablets per day)

from day 4 to 12 1 film-coated tablet every 2.5 hours (maximum 5 film-coated tablets per day)

from day 13 to 16 1 film-coated tablet every 3 hours (maximum 4 film-coated tablets per day)

from day 17 to day 20 1 film-coated tablet every 5 hours (maximum 3 film-coated tablets per day)

from the 21st to the 25th day

1 to 2 film-coated tablets daily ----

From the first day of treatment, the number of cigarettes smoked should be gradually reduced.

A smoker should completely stop smoking no later than 5 days after starting treatment.

A person who has given up smoking cannot, under any circumstances, afford to smoke even one cigarette.

The durability of the treatment result depends on this.

If the result of therapy is unsatisfactory, treatment should be discontinued.

Treatment can be restarted after 2 to 3 months.

Action

Cytisine contained in Desmoxan works similarly to nicotine. Due to this similarity, once absorbed into the body, it behaves as a "substitute" for nicotine. It binds to the same receptors, blocking access to nicotine. Thanks to this, it reduces the symptoms of nicotine craving and nicotine dependence.

Contraindications

if you are allergic to the active substance (cytisine) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,

in case of unstable angina pectoris,

if you have recently had a heart attack or stroke,

in case of clinically significant cardiac arrhythmias.
